January 12, 2017 - Green Turtle Cay

January 12, 2017
What a day!
It rained most of the night last night and it is quite windy.  The wind didn't  slow down much throughout the day however the sun was out and it was hot.
Steve needed to go to Treasure Island airport to pick up the fridge compressor and the membrane for the water maker.  John (Primera Vista) wanted to go with him but was in the process of making water on his boat.  Steve waited until 1:00pm to pick him up to catch a ferry from Green Turtle to Treasure Island.

1:15pm-  I dropped the men off at the ferry dock and went on shore to mail a letter.

I then decided do laundry at LYC .  It was not an easy task doing by yourself. After tying up the dinghy, I had to climb steep dock stairs lifting 2 heavy laundry bags onto the dock.  I forgot about the heavy current and almost fell in.  I was holding on to the dock with dear life as my foot came of the dinghy.  I sprained my hand in doing so but no big deal.  Just another lesson.

Surprisedly, after an 1.5 hrs, Steve sent me a text saying to pick him up at the ferry dock since he was already back.  I still had 15 more minutes to dry the clothes at the laundry mat and a woman, Jane, from Owensound was waiting for the dryers which I was occupying.  I had no way to let Steve know what was happening so I told Jane to remove my laundry when the time is up.

Being all frazzled and in a hurry, I dashed off in the dinghy.  I did a short cut and didn't pay attention to the marked post.  Normally, I could take the short cut, however, due to the tides really being affected from the full moon,  I ran aground due to extra low tides. The worse part was Steve and John could see me in a distance. Time for problem solve.  I had to go in the water, lift the motor, hopped back in the boat, used the paddle to push me into deeper water and then motored to pick them up.  Glad I was able to get out quickly.  I was lucky there.
They dropped me off to finish the laundry.  Later, Steve picked me up as I was folding the clothes.

When we got to the boat, Steve worked on putting in the new fridge compressor.  He got it working and now we just need Donny, the fridge repair man to come and check it tomorrow afternoon.

In the morning, we plan on getting the water maker running.
It was a nice evening.  Later, after the sun set, it started raining.
Another night watching the Soprano series.
