November 4, 2016- Savannah Georgia

,
A dolphin greeted me as we were leaving the 7:30am- Left Mosquito Creek on a mild but a little cloudy morning.  Can't believe we have not had rain for 26 days of our 2 months journey so far.  It sure make it a lot more comfortable.
There were a lot of mosquitos at this anchorage and they sure welcomed Steve. I waited until it was pitch dark to go out of the boat and look at the sky. The stars are unbelievable.  I never knew there were so many. All I can say is : Magical!
I have to share a story.  During the night I got up to go to the washroom. For those who do not live on a boat, you flush the toilet, it takes water in from the sea and puts it in the boat's holding tank.  Last night when I flushed the toilet, I was seeing blue light coming out of the water. (Thought it was lit up bugs)  It scared the £¥*+^€€ out of me.  I asked Steve this morning and he said it was the 'bio phosphorescent' light.  Now that I know what that is, I will look forward to the night show.

9:00am- A dolphin surprised me by greeting us as we were heading out.  I love those surprises.

Crazy how they can transport huge cranes on the water.

9:50am-  By Pleasant Point, as I was taking a photo of this, (we were trying to figure out what it was)
2 fighter jets came out of nowhere.
Mile 536 We are on the Beaufort River and just going by the Beaufort Marina Small piece of tidbit.  Beaufort is pronounced Bew'-Fort, not Boe'-forth as when referring to Beaufort, NC.

We are waiting for the Ladies Island Bridge to open at 10:30.  As we were waiting, we noticed along the shoreline, at least 9 sailboats and a trawler where washed up on shore cause by hurricane Matthew.

Going under the JE McTeer Memorial Highway Bridge  at mile 538.6.

12:00am- We managed to motor sail part of Beaufort River and going into Port Royal Sound which helps conserve fuel. Waves are about 2 ft, it was nice going 8.2 kn miles over the bottom.
We are flying. Yahoo!!!  We are building up our arm muscles holding on to the wheel.
Wind is ranging from 21-23.  Needless to say, Steve took over the wheel once my arms where getting numb.

OK...After 45 minutes of flying, Captain Steve took down the sail. Way too much wind.
It was fun while it lasted.
The wind died down once we went around the corner towards the Hilton Head boat house but we noticed all the docks where ripped out of all these big homes.  Some of them even had their roof getting repaired.

2:00pm- We passed a ferry on one side and a barge on the other at mile 567.
Notice the old lighthouse  in Haig Point in the background.
Going by the Tip of the Hilton which has popular golf resort.2:00pm- Sail is back up.  It sure feels good.
Captain Steve busy sailing.

2:45pm- We can see Tybee Lighthouse in a distance as we enter the Savannah River.
4pm- We are officially in Georgia.  It was sure a wild sail today. We just took down our sail since the winds are picking up.  Had a little drizzle while fighting 2 knots of current.  Sure slows you down.

4:30pm- We gambled and lost.  Thought we could make it in time for the bridge opening on the Wilmington River South,Ga
Then we called ahead for a marina and none of them had room. Damn....  So I called another marina on the Savannah and they had room however very pricey, no facilities but prime location on the Savannah waterfront snugged in between two 100 ft motor yachts

5:43 made dinner on the boat while motoring to our destination. At least there was a gorgeous sunset going into Savannah

6:50pm- Arrived at our destination very tired but not tired enough to go for a well deserved drink.  We covered 82.86 miles.  It was party city. Reminds me of New Orleans.  Very lively.
