October 5 & 6, 2016-Annapolis

October 5, 2016
The talk is all about the hurricane.  Whether to move or not. Many seasoned sailors listen to Chris Parker weather report.  We will be visiting Larry and Sue tomorrow morning on their boat, Serengeti, to listen to the weather on their SSB (single side band) radio. Then we can make a decision at that time.
My daughter in Florida however is putting up their hurricane shutters and hoping for the best.

In the meantime, laundry needed doing so we went in town. There are some cute shops in the area so while we put two loads in the washing machine, we walked around.   We went in a book store and they also had beautiful wool for knitting.  Really quaint place.  We met other Canadian sailors who are headed to the Carribean.  We exchanged card.

I know I probably said this before, but it sure makes you appreciate your washer and dryer back at home.  It is a challenge to first fine a Laundromat and then to bring your laundry from and to your boat on a dinghy.  Very interesting.  It was funny to see Steve carting the laundry back to the boat,

We went by another neat store that said:"Hippies use side door"
12:00pm- Went back to the boat to have lunch and did a little cleaning up and put away our laundry.  Seeing that it was nice out, we figure we would go back in town for a walk.  We went into a pharmacy and got our flu shot.  It cost $35 each but we figured we always get it in Canada.

We stopped in a coffee shop and I got my cappuccino and Steve got Iced coffee.

No sun out this morning....at least not yet.  Actually it is feeling damp.
Went to our neighboring boat "Serengeti" at 7:30am this morning to listen to Chris Parker weather report on their SSB radio. (Single side band) to get an update on Hurricane Matthew.  Looks like we are in the clear however according to the report my daughter in Florida will be hit.  They live close to West Palm Beach.  We could only pray and hope the damage will be minimal.
At 10:00am, we went to the boat show.  I bought foul weather pants and we bought folding seats for the boat.  We bought a two day pass so we will definitely go back.
Steve went to the Harbormaster to pay for another week on the mooring ball. While he was there, he ran into an old friend, Liz and her friend Sue.  They were working at one of the booth and took this photo.

6:30pm- Liz and another friend Mike, invited us to Eastport Yacht Club for dinner.  Guess they wanted to meet Steve's wife.  Can't believe it has been 30 years since they have seen each other.  It was very nice to meet them.

Got back to the boat by 9/00pm.  Keeping in touch with my daughter about the hurricane.
