7:15am- The sun is rising and we are hoping it will warm us up as we get ready to leave Easton, MD. First....hot coffee.
8:45am- Left Easton. It was wonderful spending time with Dr. Jim for over a week but it is time to move on.
10:00am- Just going by Tilgsburgh Point. Winds are blowing 30mph. Waves at 4ft but 10ft apart which makes a rough ride. Our nose is right into the wind. Good thing is...every time we hit a big wave, we see a rainbow on the side of our boat. Hum! Is there a meaning?
12:15pm- Finally we are on a tight reach (the wind is hitting the boat 45 degrees being that the front of the boat is zero) which made the sailing less bumpy.
1:00pm- we are having the perfect sail without our motor. So much more quiet. Now we can hear the waves as they swoosh along the boat.
3:30pm- We covered 31.5 miles today. We are staying at Calvert Marina in Solomon Island for the night. They only charge $1.00/ft. which is worth it to be able to use our heater without using our generator. Also, we used fresh water to wash the salt off of our boat. It is amazing the salt buildup which happens while sailing in salt water. Steve said wait until we get on the ocean...it is a lot worse.
After washing the boat, we relaxed to a nice dinner. What a lovely evening.
Later we both had a nice hot shower at the marina facility. Very clean.
This area was the United States Naval Amphibious Training Base, Solomons
