September 6 - Rochester September 7 -9, 2016 Little Sodus Bay - Mast down

September 6, 2016 - Rochester

Arrived in Rochester, NY in 13 hrs. from Fifty Point.  A member named Bud, was kind enough  to drive us to the grocery store after Steve and I enjoyed my homemade lasagna.
The store arranged for someone to drive us back to the boat with all our groceries.  The beer case was too heavy for Steve..

8:00 am- fuelled up at Shumway Marina before leaving Rochester.
Cost: $53.31US  19.1 gallons
8:30 am - left Rochester

2:00pm - US Customs surprised us and ensure we had our proper documents for entering the US.  Of course, I asked them if I take a photo of them.

Yesterday we motored 13hrs and today 6 hrs. I did some knitting ( don't tell baby Childs)
Steve did eye splice for an anchor.

Little Sodus Point is where we will be having our mast removed on Friday.  In the meantime, we removed our sails and took down the boom so we can enjoy the next 2 days.  It was so hot.  They have great new ceramic showers at this Marina.  Great facilities.

Steve heated up Turkey pot pie for supper.

6:00pm - Had a few drinks with Margi and Chuck who have been living aboard their Catamaran for 20 hrs.  We were laughing about how early we go to bed and how early we get up in the morning.

Woke up this morning to a beautiful sunrise.  It poured with thunder and lightning late last night but I just love hearing the rain on the boat.  I went and did some yoga near the beach.  The beach was a little rocky to do yoga.

Steve and I got our exercise today.  We rode our bikes downtown thinking it would be an easy 2 miles ride.  To our surprise, it was not only 3 miles but so many rolling hills.
Very beautiful though and there was even a winery on our way.  I was pleasantly surprise to see a deer run across the road.

After all that exercise to go downtown, we find out it was a small grocery/hardware store.  We sure needed to hydrate since it was so humid and hot.
We made it back in time before it poured for 1/2 hour, so I decided it was time to organize my photos and create a spending spreadsheet for our trip.

6:30pm- We reciprocated with Margie and Chuck and had them over on our boat for drinks and hors d'oeuvres.  We still laugh at how early we go to bed because it gets darker .  Very nice couple.

The mast came down today in preparation to go thru Oswego canal early tomorrow morning..  The mast will be trucked  to the Hop-O-Nos.
After strapping up the mast for delivery, Steve and I decided to go swimming at the beach seeing that it was so hot. The water was beautiful.

This is one big change when you are a live aboard.  Have to get used to the laundry mat.  Oh well, time to catch up on my reading and email.  Wasn't bad at all.

The boat's mast is now off.

It is Friday night pizza

Pizza delivery at the boat. What can get better.

Had Chuck and Margie over for Rhubarb pie and coffee.  Going to bed early since we will be leaving early in the morning.  Who knows when I will be blogging again since Wi-Fi may not be available for a while.  Follow us on Spot Me or Navionics.
