INTRODUCTION
This website is designed for you to follow our adventure sailing the GaYa. I will take you through steps towards certain decisions and certain preparations before leaving. Enjoy our blog.
ABOUT US
Our names are Steve and Lise Denison. We have been married since 2002.
Steve has sailed long distance off shore racing back in the 80's and early 90's. Lise was doing recreational sailing when she met Steve in 1998. Before they met, Steve had a 35 ft Hughes named "The Boat" where he docked her at Hamilton Harbour and Lise had a 23 ft Grampion named "Woman for Sail" which was docked at Port Dalhousie. Steve sold "The Boat" and we sailed on the Grampion until we sold it and we both bought another 35 ft Hughes which we named Vela. We sailed Vela for 3 years at Fifty Point. We sold her in 2012 and bought a 41 ft Dufour GibSea. Her name was GaYa.
We decided to keep the name GaYa. The previous owners wife's name was Gabriella and his name was Yanich.. They combined their names and came up with GaYa which also means "Spirit of the Earth" but spelled Gaia. They had to move back to Poland.
