February, 27, 2017 - Birthday Boy Day Hopetown

February 27, 2017
I made Steve a healthy breakfast this morning with fruit and yogurt to start his birthday off right.
No way I was baking him a cake due to the 80 degrees heat, so I put a candle in his yogurt.
We went for a long walk on the beach

Went swimming at the marina pool and of course we had to cheer with a piƱata colada.  I think Steve is liking his special day.

I did a little kayaking while Steve relaxed at the boat.

5:45pm- I took Steve out for dinner at Hope Town marina restaurant.

They surprised him with a  complimentary birthday chocolate lava cake after our meal.

Steve received many emails, phone calls, text, Facetme and Tango calls.  He is so blessed.

February 26, 2017 Tahiti Cay

February 26, 2017
Woke up this morning and decided to go explore Tahiti Cay by dinghy.  We heard there was a lot of beach glass along the beach there at low tides.  We didn't find too much beach glass but what a gorgeous place!  I did find a lot of conchs and different shell.  Steve even found a sand dollar while we were snorkeling.

Steve made use of a palm tree to soak in the sun

February 10 Off to Yardley February 24 - 25, 2017 -Marsh Harbor

February 10, 2017
FYI
I am on vacation from blogging until February, 25, 2017.  Spending time with my new grandson, Cooper.  Steve is staying on the boat with Gunter and Sue and we will not know what they are up to.

February 24,  2017
I just finished spending 2 weeks with my new grandson, Cooper in Yardley, Pa while Steve entertained Gunter and Sue.  How ironic that when I got off the plane in Marsh Harbor, I saw them getting on their plane going back to Canada.  You can see Sue waving to me.
I took a taxi from the airport to Union Jack dock for $20 where Steve was waiting for me.  I was in a little bit of a fog and needed a nap before going into town since I was up at 3:30 am.
We provisioned our boat a little although we had mostly what we needed.  I was appreciative that Gunter and Sue took care of Steve and GaYa during my absence. Sounds like they had fun.
Had dinner around 5:30pm and then we went to an event called children Junkanoo.  Tomorrow is adult Junkanoo.   It is there version of  Carnival.  The children were so cute dancing down the parade in rhythm to the drums.  They are sure on Bahama time.  It was half an hour between each group.

They had different floats

After 3 groups, I had to leave since I needed sleep.

Tomorrow we head out to Hope Town.

February 25, 2017
9:00am- Headed to Hopetown after breakfast.  Due to the tides, we could not go into the harbour until the tides were up, so we anchored outside and made water.
We went swimming off the boat and then took a shower at the back of the boat. I even gave Steve a hair cut and I think I didn't do too bad.

Who's that handsome devil?

I painted and played guitar a bit while Steve read.
4:00pm-  Tides are up and in Hope town we went.  Steve reserved a mooring for 2 weeks so we didn't have to find a mooring.
5:45pm- Had a lovely dinner and relaxed on the boat.

February 7 -9, 2017 Guana Cay

February 7, 2017
9:30am- Leaving Treasure Cay to explore Great Guiana Cay.
10:30am- We went by this big stone in the water sticking out called ...what elapse but "Stone Rock"

Steve caught a small Jack.
11:00am-  As we were approaching Great Guana Cay, we noticed an island with people on this beach.  All of a sudden the Coast Guard helicopter circled the island and was asking on VHF if anyone on the island had a radio and  needed help. No one responded so they asked radio contact from any vessels going by.  Of course Steve responded.  They asked him to stand by.  After 5 minutes, they landed on the island and we're talking to the people on the beach.  Turns out that someone wrote HELP with stones and made a big bomb fire. Probably as a joke.  The Coast Guard erase the "help" and flew away.

12:00pm- Arrived in Grand Guana Cay. We walked around and ended up at Nippers.  What an ocean view they have from their bar.  We met Americans,  Richard and Carole who live in NJ but own a place on this Cay. Had a beer with them and then went back to the boat for a late lunch.
2:00pm-  Had lunch and then walked around town.  Very nice Cay.
5:30pm-While dinner was coming I did some painting and Steve read.
6:30- Had dinner and relaxed on the boat.  The half moon is bright tonight.

February 8, 2017
7:00am-  what can I say....another gorgeous day.  I went for a nice long beach walk while Steve was sleeping.  I like the high tides in the morning since it is easier to get on the ladder at the dock from your dinghy.

This is a well know poisonous tree in the Bahamas.  You cannot touch it.  Apparently, it is worse that poison ivy.

10:00am- Steve made water before heading to Marsh Harbour. I will be taking a flight out from there on Friday to visit my new grandson. Steve greets Gunter on board the same day where they will be sailing for the week until Sue comes aboard.

11:30am- Left Great. Guiana a cay and heading to Marsh Harbor.
2:30am-Arrived in Marsh Harbor after a great sail.
3:00pm- Went I town and walked around.  We stopped for a drink at Mangoes.  We met Pete who told us to visit his bar in Little Harbor and to stop in for a drink.  He bought us another round of drinks. We will have to make sure to go there in March.
5:00pm- While in town, Steve picked up a plate to fix the barbecue.  He worked on it until dinner.  Seeing that we do not have Wi-Fi, we watched 3 episodes of Soprano.

February 9, 2017
There was a real heavy dew this morning and it was very humid.  We went in town to pick up a few groceries.  How ironic that we bumped into Terry and John who took the ferry over for the day.  We ended up having lunch together.

3:00pm- We went to BTC to top off our telephone plan since we could not use our phone. We realized we had a lot of data however it does not get transferred onto the phone plan.  The data plan expires March 1 so we used up some data by watching 3 episodes of Homeland later on after dinner.
What a unique sunset.

Tomorrow ( (Friday the 10th), I will taking a plane from the Bahamas and going to meet my new grandson in Yardley, Pa.  Steve will be picking up Gunter and sailing off with him for the week.  Then they will be picking up his wife, Sue, next Friday and sail with them for another week.  I won't be blogging for 2 weeks since I will be too busy hugging my grandson but will be back the 24th to continue our journey.

February 4-6, 2017 Treasure Cay

February 4, 2017
6:30am- Woke up and decided to go do yoga on the beach, so I hopped in the dinghy.  What a nice surprise, when I was approaching the dock.  Two Dolphins were swimming under my dinghy.  What a thrills. I managed to get my camera out in time before they swam away.
9:00am-  We dropped off 3 loads of laundry at this place where they will wash, dry and fold it for you for $10.00/ load.  It was well worth it since we did not have to stay there for 3 hrs. waiting.
We went into the bakery for homemade Cinnabuns and a muffin for breakfast.  What treat!
10:00am- Met Don and Kim at the market place near the marina.  They had really nice things but SO expensive.

Afterwards, we stopped by the bakery where Don and Kim ate a Cinnabun and then they left for their condo and we went to the boat with a fresh loaf of bread.

12:15pm- After we picked up our wash and brought it to the boat, Don picked us up and we went out for lunch.  We walked on the beach to the restaurant from their condo.

It was time to celebrate Kim's retirement and Don's 70th birthday.
It was a wonderful afternoon.

Relaxing by the pool

We loved the way they served the soup with a tea pot.

3:00- Came back to the boat and painted while Steve napped.
5:30pm- Steve  and I sat in back of the boat and watched the sunset.  What a great day

We ended the evening by watching 3 episodes of Homeland on Netflix since Wi-Fi was great.

January 5, 2017
Woke up to another beautiful day.  Happy Super Bowl Day!
8:00am-  We get free dockage at the marina because of Super Bowl so we moved the boat to the dock.

9:00am- Went for a nice long walk on the beach before breakfast. Made Steve French toast and bacon when we returned.
Steve read and I painted early afternoon.
3:30pm- Don and Kim picked us up to have a barbecue at their condo for the Super Bowl game.

Great meal and company. A beautiful spot.
What a game!  Went into overtime for the first time in history.  Back at the boat by 11:00pm.  The music was blaring at the marina bar and you could hear they had karaoke.

The greatest surprise was Natalie, my daughter, called at 6:00pm just as the Super Bowl started and said her water broke and that she was at the hospital waiting for baby Childs to be born.  So exciting!
We are all excited for her and Michael.

February 6, 2014

6:00am- Woke up anxious to hear whether I had another grandchild.  Not yet but the labour pain began.
There was a huge boat beside us this morning.

7:30am- Steve and I went for a nice long walk on the beach before breakfast.

9:00am-  Had a good breakfast and then showered before going back on a mooring.
11:00am-  We are back on a mooring but still in Treasure Cay.  Heading out tomorrow
3:00pm- Met Don and Kim and brought them to the boat awhile.  Steve and I have been waiting all day to hear if my daughter had her baby so it was a good distraction.  We then went for a drink and a bite to eat around dinner time.  Don and Kim are leaving tomorrow to head home. We said our goodbyes on the beach.
6:30pm- Steve and I came back to the boat and figure we would watch episodes of Homeland.  It took our minds of Natalie.  Is she ever going to deliver this child?  At least Mike and Nicky would text us to reassure us Natalie was doing great.
9:51pm- FINALLY received the news that Steve and I have a new grandson, Cooper Frederick.  Natalie and Mike are doing fine.  We can start breathing again.
